Nana and Pop-pop take NYC

My mom and dad came to town just in time for our blissful colds to really take hold.  We all still managed to enjoy ourselves, despite being up most nights with one or both of the littles.  Lua got to see daddy perform in ALADDIN! My dad mentioned it at one point - seeing her father perform on Broadway may be one of Lua's first memories.  And although I'm pretty sure Lu remembers and can recount her experience just out of the womb, it's great to think about the things that have stuck in my head throughout the years and I hope Andrew and I can help plant some amazing ones for our kids to hold on to:).

Did I mention the girls LOVE their grandparents? Esmé was a little nervous/under the weather on the first day, but she got right over that by the next morning:)

We spent much of our time playing, cooking (thanks mom) and eating in the apartment.  It was so relaxed and nice.

My parents ended up booking a flight for me to come home with the girls for nearly the entire month of January!  It's so expensive to travel, only going for a week or two is hardly worth it.  Plus, someone pointed out that January is like, the WORST month to be in NY,  so we're going to spend it in a house, with a yard for snowmen and a car with a heater and cousins close by to play with!
I'm still holding out for my honeymoon:) hopefully when Esmé is a little older, Andrew and I can leave them to go somewhere awesome;) for now, I'm content to "vacation" a little closer to home!

SNOT.

We've been a sick little family over here.  Lu has been better for about a week now and I am slowly feeling normal again.  Thank GOODNESS the weather has been awesome and we have been taking every opportunity to get much needed fresh air!  I'm talking park-hopping, only-coming-inside-for-naps AWESOME weather!

I'm sure everyone who reads this has heard by now, but Andrew got his third Broadway gig this month!  Disney's ALADDIN.  We are all so excited :)  We start off in Canada for a two month run over the holidays and the big opening is in March of 2014.  He also just found out that the show he's in currently is closing mid-June, so there's a possibility of me getting a part-time job for a couple months this summer.  I welcome the opportunity because it means that Andrew will get to spend some more time with the little.  Also, because I know it is a finite amount of time, I can enjoy my time away from home more than I would in a "normal" work situation.

I acknowledge again that I am so unbelievably lucky to live the life I do.  Staying home with Lua is one of the greatest gifts I've been given.  I love this little family we've got going!

snapshots.

So...we got food poisoning.  Ya.  It'll be awhile before we attempt pork chops again.  We were supposed to have this awesome day (celebrating my birthday a little early) where I ate at our favorite diner, went shopping all day, got a haircut and then Andrew surprised me with tickets to Jesus Christ Superstar on Broadway.  And then we ate pork chops the night before :(  The entire next day (the celebration day) was spent in between a makeshift bed on the living room floor and the toilet.

Thank goodness Lua is easily entertained.  By 6pm that night, we were still feeling very weak, but we decided to stuff our pockets full of plastic bags (for the accidental vomit) and head out to see the show that Andrew had paid a pretty penny for.  I'm so glad we did.  The cast is from Stratford, Ontario - where Andrew and I spent our first year of marriage - so we knew a number of them and they ROCKED.  It's too bad I felt the way I did because there were so many times that I wanted to stand up and screech like a tween at a Justin Bieber concert.

We're just getting back to our normal routines.  The house is a disaster zone.  We finally did two weeks worth of laundry.  Tank.  Poor Tank looks like one of Jim Henson's Muppets (he needs a good brushing).  And both of us are still taking multiple naps a day when we can.  But we are on the mend.

The above is meant as an excuse for why nothing has been posted recently :)  Please forgive me!  For my Mamas - mama to mama will be back up again next Monday, so if you've got any cool DIYs, email me!

Enjoy your week, everyone!  And these snapshots from our weekend :)
